A Good Ol' Boat For Sale

One of the beautiful things about sailing are the people you "meet", or in the case of the electronic world the virtual connections you make.  Through the wonders of the internet and Facebook I connected with Skipper Jarrett, who captains a Redwing 30, serial number 137 (Exploits is #136).  I've never met Jarrett and never talked to him on the phone.  Yet oddly enough, I consider him and his advice and encouragement to be a very important part of my sail boat life.

I am guessing that Jarrett's boat is maintained in mint condition.  I also know thing or two about Redwings.  I'm thinking then, that this is a fine boat that will provide someone with years of enjoyment, just like Exploits has provided to us.  And who knows, if they have a Facebook account, maybe I'll make a new friend!

Good luck selling the boat Skipper and thanks for all the advice!

  1. AH! I just saw this!

How can I sell the boat now!? Impossible! I declare the boat OFF THE MARKET!

In all seriousness, this is a sweet write-up, and so very, very thoughtful. I appreciate all your warm comments about meeting up and talking about our boats! And it turns out that telling strangers about how great the boat is made us realize how great the boat is! And so my wife and I have decided to keep the boat! We just went through the ordeal of an engine rebuild that cost us most of a season, and then the hurricane, and so now we just want to relax and enjoy the boat we love so much. We actually went sailing today, and realized, thanks in part to the blog, that we haven't been sailing alone together in almost two and a half years! So there's no way we're going to sell our beloved Redwing and start over with a stranger that has a list of projects that could keep us off the water.

So it looks like you're stuck with me for a little while longer!
